Good Evening Everyone,

This truly is a Saturday Evening Post. For those of you who faithfully sit by your computers waiting for me to post, thank you for your patience! You see I had beans to help can this morning, a bridal shower to attend this afternoon, and so on.

Most of today's photos are from a local event which our church participated in. It was a good way to get to know people in the community.

Well, so you don't have to wait any longer...

Schoeneck Community Days

First thing upon arrival, Candace and I were asked to guard the sound tent.

The first shady characters we chased away were the members of another band who wanted to set up their sound system! (I think they were more suspicious of us than we were of them.)

Conrad shakes his head over "their" sound system.

One Man Audience
The band was about as popular as their sound system.

A three-legged photographer (you'll just have to trust me on the photographer part).

They look like they're missing something.

Maybe they are!

Candy Bomber

A whole tray of french fries later, she still looks like she is missing something.

Considering everything was ten cents (that's right - just ten cents!), I find it rather interesting that the icecream window on the right has so little business compared to the other window.

Now, we Martins... we definitely had a partiality for that right window.

Barrels of Fun

Making sure the hayride driver doesn't miss out on all the good food.

(I posted this picture for you, Mrs. Groff :-)

My wonderful piano student Amber fishing for treasure. (Anything you can get for only ten cents is treasure for sure :)

Three junior firemen ready for their first assignment.

Wait a minute, you can't all go first.

Taking his job seriously.

By the looks of it, the target takes its job seriously too. It's not going to be shot down easily.

Finally... it's down.

Candace chooses a very appropriate place to eat her John F. Martin-donated hamburger.

I spy... a Martin marvel, a Botsford brownie, a Phero favorite, and an Einwechter edible (just so ;-).

(In case you haven't noticed, I sometimes like to make controversial statements on this blog.)

And when you run out of dimes to buy tickets, all you have to do is throw a football through a tire and they give you a free ticket. (I should tell you though, the ball doesn't always want to go through the tire.)

Meeting old friends for the first time. ;-)

"It takes a long time to grow an old friend." These two are working hard at it.

Monique multi-tasking.

The rain made us "blue" so to cheer us up...

The moment we've all been waiting for: the "Einweacther" Bluegrass Quartet is about to perform!

"Look! They spelled our name wrong!" That is so hard to believe. ;-)

Here they are: the "Einweacthers" - otherwise known as the "Einwechters."

If you ever get a chance, go hear them! I think you'll find their touring schedule at... sorry my mind went blank.

You know... I think I recognize every face in the audience. (Uhh, maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that.)

Planted Applause

Next generation sound men.

I think they know something.

When it rains, it's nice to have friends in the sound tent.

We all had a pretty good attitude about the rain though. We are die-hard Einwechter Bluegrass fans you see.

Singing in the Rain

Like I overheard someone say, "It was very successful day considering that it was a failure." Translated that means: "There was a very large turnout despite the rain."

Candace's featured photograph of this post.

Come to think of it, this might be the only one she took on this post. Anyway... in tribute to my faithful, behind-the-scenes fellow photographer, here is a photo that proves her dedication (her dedication to climbing trees, that is ;-).

Not Tunnelling... Again!

Remember the "tunnel king" who haunts this blog?

Well, he and his "partner in grime" are back...

...and making the dirt fly...

...at their latest digging location.

A Hike to Governor Dick

If you're part of this family, you always read the historical plaques.

First task after setting out is to decide which trail of the fork to take.

"I'm SURE this is the right way."

Mr. Doubtful walking through Bunyan's "Forest of Confusion."

The Standoff

The ones in the distance: "Come on, I'm STILL sure this is the right way."
In the foreground: "We're not going one step farther!"

Another fork! We had at least four to deal with.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth.

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

(a favorite of mine)

This is Governor Dick, in case you've been wondering. It resembles a silo more than an officer of state I'm afraid. (If you want to know the history, go back and enlarge that picture of the historical marker. :)

Just to give you an idea of the climbing conditions.

Dad finds somebody he knows everywhere, and at every elevation.

A piece of paper. Potential.

A top-secret paper plane bombing raid is about to commence.

Caught, just as he was about to follow his brother up the ladder.

Contemplating the privileges of manhood.

Such as being allowed to climb the tower at top speed.

One second, two second, three second...

...Forty seconds!!!

So long... until we come again.

So long, everybody... until I come again.
God Bless
